The Department of Neurophysiology and Pathophysiology (Head: Prof. Dr. Andreas K.Engel) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany) invites applications for a PhD student position which is available for an initial period of 2 years, starting in October 2008.

The position is funded by the German Research Foundation project:
"A Multisensory processing of pain: An investigation of neural binding mechanisms in electrophysiological and hemodynamic brain responses".

Main research interests of the Department of Neurophysiology are the dynamics of distributed sensory processing, intermodal and sensorimotor integration, as well as theories of perception, action and consciousness. Current projects involve EEG/MEG/fMRI studies in humans or physiological studies in animals.

Applicants should have a background in psychology, medicine, biology or neuroscience. Experience in human EEG studies or biosignal analysis is desirable.
