The NOHA European Master’s in International Humanitarian Action has
been selected by the European Commission among the first Erasmus
Mundus masters courses for five years. This implies that the European
Commission will grant scholarships to highly qualified third-country
graduate students and scholars to students to follow the NOHA Mundus
Masters Course, to scholars to carry out teaching and research
assignments and scholarly work in the NOHA universities participating
in the Course.
Third-country graduate student
Third-country graduate student means a national of a third country
other than those from EEA-EFTA States and candidate countries for
accession to the European Union; who has already obtained a first
higher education degree; who is not a resident of any of the Member
States or the participating countries (EEA-EFTA States and EU
candidate countries for accession); who has not carried out his or
her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12
months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the
participating countries.
The amount of the student grant is EUR 35, 600. Each grantee will
receive EUR 1,600 each month for living costs during the 16 months
duration of the program plus a fixed amount of EUR 10,000 to be paid
in two instalments of EUR 5,000 each per year.
Third-country students eligible for receiving an Erasmus Mundus
scholarship fall into two different categories: one general category
in which grantees can come from any third country and one specific
category (”Asian windows”) in which funds are earmarked for nationals
from specific Asian countries.
With regard to the general category NOHA consortium will reserve a 13
to 18 places for third-country students and 3 to 4 places for third-
country scholars every year.
With regard to the specific category (”Asian windows”) the NOHA
consortium will have the possibility to select 8 or 9 additional
Asian students every year.
Third-country scholar:
Third-country scholar means a national of a third country other than
those from EEAEFTA States and candidate countries for accession to
the European Union; who is not a resident of any of the Member States
or the participating countries as provided for in Article 11; who has
not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for
more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the
Member States or the participating countries; and who has outstanding
academic and/or professional experience.
The amount of the scholar grant is EUR 13,000. Each scholar will
receive EUR 4,000 each month for a period of 3 months and a fixed
amount of EUR 1,000.
Third-country scholars eligible for receiving an Erasmus Mundus
scholarship fall also into two different categories: one general
category in which scholars can come from any third country and one
specific category (”Asian windows”) in which funds are earmarked for
a scholar from China.

Portugal - FCT funded Postdoctoral Fellowships in Economics and Management at CEFAGE-UE
CEFAGE-UE – Center for Advanced Studies in Management and Economics (www.cefage.uevora.pt) - offers two research positions in Economics and Management, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The hired researchers would join CEFAGE-UE’s ongoing research projects and is expected to develop independent research aimed at publication in leading international scientific journals. The final selection of the candidates for the open positions will be subject to a decision from FCT.
Job description:
CEFAGE-UE offers two research positions in Economics and Management, which are funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Successful candidates will integrate one of the following CEFAGE-UE’s research groups: Econometrics and Finance, Industrial, Labour and Spatial Economics, and Management. In recent years, research in these areas has been focusing upon the following topics:
Econometrics and Finance: theoretical and applied microeconometrics; moment-based estimation (GMM, empirical likelihood); bootstrap estimation and testing; specification tests for non-nested hypotheses; panel data models; measurement error and missing data; neglected heterogeneity and endogeneity in nonlinear models; efficiency and productivity analysis using stochastic frontier estimation; economic and financial applications of entropy; applied small business finance; empirical corporate finance.
Industrial, Labour and Spatial Economics: price discrimination; entry; telecommunications; productivity growth; firm dynamics; economics of the household; domestic violence; labour market discrimination; income distribution inequality; trade and labour market adjustments; confidence and unemployment; economics of happiness; economic governance and management of regional attractiveness; sustainable economic growth.
Management: managerial economics; game theoretic modeling of managerial and firm decisions; entrepreneurship; innovation management; processes of innovation and knowledge management; strategy; marketing; internationalization and innovation; agricultural management.
The hired researchers are expected to strengthen the Centre’s main research areas, developing independent research aimed at publication in leading international scientific journals and collaborating with other CEFAGE-UE’s members working in related areas. He or she is also expected to launch new research projects involving international partners, to support activities of scientific supervision and training, and to promote and participate actively in all of CEFAGE-UE’s scientific events. The Centre will provide all the necessary conditions for international-level research work.
The contract offered will have the duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement and subject to FCT approval. The annual income, before taxes, will be around 43,500 Euro.
Requirements:
Candidates should have:
a PhD degree in Economics or Management
preferably at least 3 years of post-doctoral experience and relevant scientific production
