The core module International Business: Risks and Opportunities emphasises the practical benefits and difficulties involved in trading internationally. It suggests strategies for maximising the benefits and minimising the costs. Topics covered include risk assessment, hedging, options markets, dispute settlement procedures, methods of international payment and the forms of international production, joint ventures, the use of trading houses and international arbitration. As part of their assessment students will be required to evaluate and comment on a business strategy.
The International Marketing module examines the main issues facing companies that wish to become successful internationally. It covers the context, techniques and strategies involved in developing a successful marketing programme. Case studies are used extensively in this module in order to emphasise practical analysis.
Additional modules concentrating on the European Union gives students insights into its policy making processes and how these affect business decisions. Topics covered include the governance of the European Union, policy making in general, industrial, commercial and competition policy and taxation policy.
In conjunction with the other core modules in the Masters in Management programme the International Business content aims to prepare students to become more effective managers.

The NOHA European Master’s in International Humanitarian Action has
been selected by the European Commission among the first Erasmus
Mundus masters courses for five years. This implies that the European
Commission will grant scholarships to highly qualified third-country
graduate students and scholars to students to follow the NOHA Mundus
Masters Course, to scholars to carry out teaching and research
assignments and scholarly work in the NOHA universities participating
in the Course.
Third-country graduate student
Third-country graduate student means a national of a third country
other than those from EEA-EFTA States and candidate countries for
accession to the European Union; who has already obtained a first
higher education degree; who is not a resident of any of the Member
States or the participating countries (EEA-EFTA States and EU
candidate countries for accession); who has not carried out his or
her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12
months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the
participating countries.
The amount of the student grant is EUR 35, 600. Each grantee will
receive EUR 1,600 each month for living costs during the 16 months
duration of the program plus a fixed amount of EUR 10,000 to be paid
in two instalments of EUR 5,000 each per year.
Third-country students eligible for receiving an Erasmus Mundus
scholarship fall into two different categories: one general category
in which grantees can come from any third country and one specific
category (”Asian windows”) in which funds are earmarked for nationals
from specific Asian countries.
With regard to the general category NOHA consortium will reserve a 13
to 18 places for third-country students and 3 to 4 places for third-
country scholars every year.
With regard to the specific category (”Asian windows”) the NOHA
consortium will have the possibility to select 8 or 9 additional
Asian students every year.
Third-country scholar:
Third-country scholar means a national of a third country other than
those from EEAEFTA States and candidate countries for accession to
the European Union; who is not a resident of any of the Member States
or the participating countries as provided for in Article 11; who has
not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for
more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the
Member States or the participating countries; and who has outstanding
academic and/or professional experience.
The amount of the scholar grant is EUR 13,000. Each scholar will
receive EUR 4,000 each month for a period of 3 months and a fixed
amount of EUR 1,000.

The hired researchers would join CEFAGE-UE’s ongoing research projects and is expected to develop independent research aimed at publication in leading international scientific journals. CEFAGE-UE offers two research positions in Economics and Management, which are funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). Successful candidates will integrate one of the following CEFAGE-UE’s research groups: Econometrics and Finance, Industrial, Labour and Spatial Economics, and Management. In recent years, research in these areas has been focusing upon the following topics:
Econometrics and Finance: theoretical and applied microeconometrics; moment-based estimation (GMM, empirical likelihood); bootstrap estimation and testing; specification tests for non-nested hypotheses; panel data models; measurement error and missing data; neglected heterogeneity and endogeneity in nonlinear models; efficiency and productivity analysis using stochastic frontier estimation; economic and financial applications of entropy; applied small business finance; empirical corporate finance.
Industrial, Labour and Spatial Economics: price discrimination; entry; telecommunications; productivity growth; firm dynamics; economics of the household; domestic violence; labour market discrimination; income distribution inequality; trade and labour market adjustments; confidence and unemployment; economics of happiness; economic governance and management of regional attractiveness; sustainable economic growth.
Management: managerial economics; game theoretic modeling of managerial and firm decisions; entrepreneurship; innovation management; processes of innovation and knowledge management; strategy; marketing; internationalization and innovation; agricultural management.
The hired researchers are expected to strengthen the Centre’s main research areas, developing independent research aimed at publication in leading international scientific journals and collaborating with other CEFAGE-UE’s members working in related areas. He or she is also expected to launch new research projects involving international partners, to support activities of scientific supervision and training, and to promote and participate actively in all of CEFAGE-UE’s scientific events. The Centre will provide all the necessary conditions for international-level research work.
The contract offered will have the duration of up to 5 years, renewed yearly based on mutual agreement and subject to FCT approval. The annual income, before taxes, will be around 43,500 Euro.

The PhD program in Business Administration of the University of Bologna trains brilliant researchers in the fields of management, by offering courses in several areas such as organization theory, business strategy, marketing, technology and innovation management, research methods, statistics, econometrics. In addition to the courses, PhD students have the opportunity to attend seminars held by internationally renowned scholars, present their work at conferences, spend a research period of at least 6 months in international academic institutions. The courses are held in English. THE STUDY PROGRAMME:
The European Masters Program in Computational Logic is designed to meet the demands of industry and research in this rapidly growing area. Based on a solid foundation in mathematical logic, theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence and declarative programming students will acquire in-depth knowledge necessary to specify, implement and run complex systems as well as to prove properties of these systems. In particular, the focus of instruction will be in deduction systems, knowledge representation and reasoning, artificial intelligence, formal specification and verification, syntax directed semantics, logic and automata theory, logic and computability. This basic knowledge is then applied to areas like logic and natural language processing, logic and the semantic web, bioinformatics, information systems and database technology, software and hardware verification. Students will acquire practical experience and will become familiar in the use of tools within these applications. In addition, students will be prepared for a future PhD, they will come in contact with the international research community and will be integrated into ongoing research projects. They will develop competence in foreign languages and international relationships, thereby improving their social skills.
Applicants should have a Bachelor degree (Bologna 1st cycle or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Logic, or other relevant disciplines; special cases will be considered. The programme is part of the Master in Computational Logic (Mestrado em Lógica Computacional) and it has various strengths that make it unique amongst Portuguese and European universities:

[Ireland] EC-funded Scholarships for Citizens of ENP Countries and Russia to Obtain an MA in European Studies
The European Commission has launched a call to fund scholarships for the study of MA programmes in European integration. The scholarship of the European Commission covers up to €20,000 per student per academic year to cover fees and subsistence costs. For details on the scholarship, see this link. In total, approximately 150 scholarships will be available.
The UCD School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin invites applications to its MA in European Studies from citizens of European Neighbourhood Policy countries or Russia, who possess a first academic degree in either the social sciences or humanities (BA), and are in command of the English language.
Interested students should apply to the UCD School of Politics and International Relations through the normal channels by Wednesday, 28 May 2008, and normal entry procedures apply. For details of the application procedure, see http://www.ucd.ie/spire/grad_admissions.html. UCD will then recommend to the European Commission successful applicants to our MA programme who also fulfil the scholarship criteria. The European Commission will make the ultimate decision on the distribution of
scholarships.
Prospective students not receiving a scholarship are free to either withdraw their application for the MA European Studies program of the UCD School of Politics and International Relations of the University College Dublin, or to seek alternative sources of funding.

Master Scholarship at Glendale Community College 2008
Glendale Community College offers 70 master scholarship program in science, engineering or mathematics. Application Applications are now being accepted for the 2008-2009 school year. The deadline is May 16, 2008.
Students who are accepted into this program are not only guaranteed transfer assistance to a four-year university with transfer application fees paid, but are also given a five week summer bridge/academic enrichment program, for which they will receive a stipend and a top-of-the-line graphing calculator. Scholarship recipients will also receive approximately $1500 per year if they maintain a 2.5 grade point average and continue progressing in their major. They are assigned a caring professor/mentor to help them with any problems they may encounter during their stay at Glendale College. While in the MASTER scholarship program, students are also able to attend special MASTER Supplemental Instruction (SI) classes to give them additional help with their science, engineering, and math classes.
Students will also have a special MASTER counselor, priority registration and assistance with the development of a student education plan. MASTER scholars will automatically become members of the award-winning MASTER Math Club. Where possible, students can also join the GCC Science Academy.
