This new Lectureship in Environmental Science, which results from the continued growth and development in the areas of Environmental Science and Sustainability at Keele, is available from November 2009. Applications are welcomed from individuals committed to high quality teaching and research in the field of Environmental Science and related disciplines and who have an interest in Sustainability, and interests and experience that complement our research strengths in Environmental Sciences and who have an ability and willingness to teach across a range of Environmental Science and Sustainability topics.

You will be expected to actively contribute to the delivery and development of our undergraduate programmes in Applied Environmental Science and Environment and Sustainability, including the development, organisation and delivery of the fieldwork programmes, including residential field courses both in the UK and overseas, in addition to contributing to teaching on cognate programmes such as Geography and Physical Geography and relevant Masters programmes where appropriate. Applications from candidates working in all areas of Environmental Science will be considered, but are particularly welcome from candidates in the areas of freshwater ecology and aquatic systems, environmental pollution and (bio)remediation, and landscape ecology. This includes candidates working at the interface between environmental science and policy.

This is one of a series of strategic new appointments in the area of Environmental Science and Sustainability, underpinning a significant planned growth and expansion of this area at Keele. This position will present many new opportunities for the development of synergies in both teaching and research between Environmental Science and geology, physical geography, chemical sciences, biology, as well as with areas within the social sciences such as environmental policy and law. Areas of existing environmental research and activities at Keele include; terrestrial ecology, hydrogeochemistry, environmental technologies, environmental analysis, chemical ecology, applied geophysics, and environmental citizenship and catalysing pro-environmental behaviour. Candidates will be expected to develop an active research programme within the Environment, Physical Sciences and Applied Mathematics (EPSAM) research institute that both complements and extends our existing research profile in environmental science and sustainability.
