The Graduate School of Engineering, the Graduate School of Information Sciences and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies are pleased to announce the Tohoku University International Doctoral Program in Engineering, Information Sciences and Environmental Studies and invite applicants for 2008 entry. The program was launched in 2001 through the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho) and is now in its eighth year. In this program, a wide variety of elective courses are being offered in English

Monbukagakusho scholarships for international students with outstanding scholastic ability are being offered as part of the program. Also, students enjoy some of the world's best experimental facilities and study along with distinguished faculty and associates to develop creative and original research that is published in highly reputed international journals.

Candidates should submit application materials and choose a department for enrollment from the 22 departments listed below:

A maximum of 12students can be awarded Monbukagakusho scholarships.Lectures in English are arranged in areas of students'research specialty. However, depending on thestudents' language ability, research supervision maybe in English or Japanese. And students may alsoattend lectures given in Japanese to fulfill theirrequirements.

14th Foreigner’s Onassis Fellowship Programme 2008/2009 from the Greece

The Foundation announces the fourteenth (14th) annual Programme of research grants and educational scholarships starting on October 1st, 2008. The program is aimed at foreigners, members of academies National, university professors and researchers who obtained their doctorates, artists, teachers of the language Greek and to students pursuing studies 3rd cycle (MA and PhD).

FIELDS / SECTIONS OF RESEARCH OR STUDY
The Programme covers the following fields only:

Humanities: Philology, Literature, Linguistics, Theology, History, Archaeology, Philosophy, Educational Studies, Psychology
Political Science: Sociology, International Relations
Arts: Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Theatre, Photography, Film Studies
Application forms and all after being documentsmust late than January 31, 2008. Application files can be sent by registered mail to the Foundation office or donated to the Foundation by the Secretariat (address above), in person or by proxy, from Monday to Friday 10:00-15:00 hrs. Applications postmarked after that date will not be accepted. Applications and supporting documents sent by fax or e-mail will not be accepted. Applicants will be informed of the results by regular mail at the end of July 2008.
