The Scholarship 2008 at Newcastle University UK

Newcastle University is one of the UK’s leading teaching and research universities, with a wide variety of undergraduate courses. We offer a large number of:
International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships (IUMS) for international students who study for their first degree at Newcastle. All applicants are considered, based on the information given on their UCAS application form. This partial scholarship has a value of £1,500 for the first year of study.

Scholarships for:

MHLS - Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences
(includes scholarships for students at the School of Biological Sciences, School of Health Professions and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Nursing and Midwifery, School of Medicine, School of Psychology)

FESM - Faculty of Engineering, Science and Mathematics
(includes scholarships for students at the ISVR (Institute for Sound and Vibration Research), School of Chemistry, School of Civil Engineering and the Environment, School of Electronics and Computer Science, School of Engineering Sciences, School of Geography, School of Mathematics, School of Physics and Astronomy, School of Ocean and Earth Science)

LASS - Faculty of Law, Arts and Social Sciences
(includes scholarships for students at the Winchester School of Art, School of Law, School of Humanities, School of Education, School of Management, School of Social Sciences)


To be eligible for an IUMS scholarship, international students :

Have already accepted or will accept Newcastle University as their first choice university, i.e. firm choice with UCAS.
Have already achieved or will achieve a certain level of academic performance in their pre-university qualifications (the level of academic performance will be notified to applicants who are offered a place to study at Newcastle in a letter from the appropriate academic school)
Must have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes.
Must have applied through UCAS and been offered a place to study on one of our undergraduate degree programmes for 2008 or 2009 entry.


We also offer International Family Discounts (IFD) for international students, to encourage relatives of our current international students, and past international graduates, to pursue their studies at Newcastle University.
