USA - Northwestern University Postdoctoral Fellowship in Single Molecule Biophysics

A postdoctoral position in single molecule biophysics is available in the Messersmith group at Northwestern University. The overall goals of the research are to elucidate the molecular details of mussel adhesive protein adhesion (for example, see PNAS 2006, 103, 12999). We seek self-motivated individuals interested in a stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment where fundamental biophysics experiments inform the development of biologically inspired materials. Experience in designing, conducting and interpreting single molecule pulling experiments is required. Candidates with experience in AFM single molecule pulling experiments, cantilever tip modification, and peptide or polymer chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. USA - Yale Child Study Center Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Electrophysiology

The Developmental Electrophysiology Laboratory at the Yale Child Study Center is hiring a full-time /post-graduate researcher. This position is for a minimum of two-years (with a possibility of additional years based on funding availability). They will join an active lifespan electrophysiology research laboratory that tests clinical and typically-developing populations ranging from infants to the elderly using 128 to 256-electrode event-related potential technology to study cognitive and socio-emotional development.

The person in this position will receive extensive training in high-density array ERP/EEG recording procedures and analysis techniques, a range of infant, child, and adult neuropsychological and cognitive tests, as well as a variety of statistical techniques already in use in the lab. The primary focus of this position is complex data analysis approaches to electrophysiological data. Thus, preferred skills for the applicant include a familiarity with MatLab as well as basic imaging processing approaches including BESA and Brain Voyager. Skills mastered through this position will be useful to those interested in pursuing advanced graduate studies.

Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program

Application 2008-2009

The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program provides support to young researchers working in academic and research institutions from developing countries. Fellowships are awarded for a period of five to ten months and must be complete between July 2008 and June 2009. The maximum amount of the grants is US$25,000.

Who can apply?
Only professors and researchers from countries with the right to work in his doctoral thesis can apply the scholarship. Candidates must be under 45 years old, and have completed the course work or any of the examinations required for its doctoral program.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following general criteria to be eligible for a scholarship award:

Being national and resident of a member country of the World Bank which is currently eligible to borrow;
Candidates must be under 45 years. Candidates born before January 1, 1964 will not be considered;
And * Must have completed at least, was awarded a Master’s degree or equivalent, at the time of application;
Be enrolled regularly in a doctoral program related to development in their places of origin or in another country;
Must have completed all courses and reviewing the needs of its doctoral program;
Be employed full-time as a teacher or researcher at an academic institution or research in their country of origin;
Being accepted as a scholar by a university renowned for a period of five to ten months.


Application Process
Application forms for Robert S. McNamara (RSM) Scholarship Program are available in English, French and Spanish in PDF format.

Each application consists of three documents: 1) 2008 RSM application form, 2) Letter of Reference (professional or academic), and 3) statement of acceptance by the host institution and Research Advisory

Commitment of fellow

The fellows are required to issue two reports, a report during the period of the fellowship and a final report containing the results of the investigation. The results of the fellows McNamara research work can be considered for publication by the World Bank.

Fellows are expected to return to their home countries and resume their academic or research position after completion of the fellowship. It is also expected to talk about the award of fellowships McNamara any publication relating to their doctoral research work, including their theses, and to provide the program with a copy of his thesis to graduate.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the Unites States Department of State is pleased to announce the Community Collage Summit Initiative Program. This new international educational exchange program enables individuals from Indonesia to study at a Community College in the United States to develop professional skills. Eligible fields are agriculture, Applied Engineering, Business Management and Administration, Health Professions, including Nursing, Information Technology, Media and Tourism and Hospitality Management.

To apply to the program candidates must:
-Have English language skill that provide a basis for enrolling in academic coursework following approximately 2 month of intensive English language study in the U.S

-Be currently employed or have relevant work experience in the field in which they are applying.

-Have completed a high school education and have a valid high school diploma.

-Submit a complete application (original one and two copies) and
Have an institutional or prediction TOEFL score of 500 or equivalent

NOTE : applicants with bachelor’s degree are only eligible if they are applying in a field different from the field of their degrees. Applicants with MA or PhD degrees are not eligible to participate.

Maine Roads Master Degree Scholarship 2007-2008

The Maine Roads Scholarship Program is a financial incentive to support individuals employed in the child care field. Financial assistance is available to support child care providers pursuing a CDA (Child Development Associate), Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree (including Wheelock College Portland site), and Doctorate, which will lead to opportunities working in direct care service, administrative work or staff development/training in child care and early education. Such opportunities exist in home-based or center-based child care facilities, Head Start, school aged child care, and Resource Development Centers.

Postdoctoral Fellowship: Research and Training Program on Poverty and Public Policy - Jan 11, 2008 Deadline

Sponsored by the National Poverty Centers Research and Training Program on
Poverty and Public Policy, these fellowships provide outstanding American
minority scholars and other scholars who are members of underrepresented
groups in the social sciences an opportunity to spend one or two years
conducting research and pursuing extensive training in residence at the
National Poverty Center at the Univ of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

During the fellowship period, scholars receive stipends of $48,000 per
calendar year, beginning as early as July 1, 2008, but no later than
September 1, 2008. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. after 2002
and prior to August 31, 2008. Priority will be given to proposals that
would benefit from the resources available at the University of Michigan
and from interactions with affiliated faculty members.

Fellows will participate in a number of seminars on poverty research and
will be supervised by Dr. Sheldon Danziger, professor of Public Policy and
co-director of the National Poverty Center.

Mathematics Fellowship Program in USA

The application postmark deadlines are 20 November for Spring Semester, 20 April for
Summer Sessions, and 20 July for Fall Semester.

The Appalachian State University Cain Mathematics Scholarship program is funded by the Gordon and Mary Cain
Foundation and coordinated through the ASU Department of Mathematical Sciences and its Mathematics Education
Leadership Training (MELT) program.
The Appalachian State University Cain Mathematics Scholarship program is designed to assist
current and future teachers of mathematics who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate
mathematics majors or mathematics concentrations in Appalachian State University degree
programs. Individuals who possess a bachelor’s degree and who are seeking a middle grades or
high school mathematics teaching license are also eligible to apply.

Cain Mathematics Scholar applicants may seek support to participate in one or more of the
weeklong Mathematics Education Leadership Training (MELT) Summer Institutes, to enroll in
undergraduate or graduate mathematics course work at Appalachian, and/or to complete student
teaching in mathematics. Applicants should plan to teach mathematics for at least five years
after the completion of their degree or license. They should develop a thoughtful action plan for
implementing what they learn in their classes during their teaching career.
Applicants may request support toward tuition, fees and other educational expenses; award
amounts will be based upon their scholarly history and teaching potential, the quality of their
action plan, and their financial need.



Two letters of support must be included with each first-time application.
