The Department Warwick HRI is at the forefront of research and teaching in plant, microbial and environmental sciences, underpinned by core capabilities in mathematical biology, biometrics, genomics and bioinformatics to improve horticulture, crops and the environment. Our extensive facilities include state-of-the art molecular bioscience laboratories, the Genomics Resource Centre, the Genetics Resources Unit, imaging facilities, computer controlled glasshouses, controlled environment units and a BioConversion Unit, all complementing 150 hectares of field resources and rural landscape.

4. MSc Modelling Biological Populations and Interactions
Why choose this course? Quantitative models are crucial tools that underpin current research to improve our understanding of the behaviour of complex biological systems. Ecological modelling can predict the impact of both climate change and the effects of land-use changes on biodiversity. Such models provide a critical resource for environmental policy development, whilst agronomic decision support models are vital in the development of sustainable agriculture. The emphasis of this course is the practical implementation of modelling tools to address real biological problems and will equip you with a working knowledge of current approaches to the statistical and mathematical modelling of biological populations and their interactions.
