UNIVERSITÄT OSNABRÜCK
We are currently offering a
*PhD fellowship/ postdoc position (Salary scale according to 13 TV-L)*
in Mathematics at the Chair of Applied Analysis of the University of
Osnabrück, Germany, starting from 1st November 2008.
The employment will be based on the pool of applicants and their respective
qualifications, either as a PhD fellowship (75 %) or as a postdoc-position
(100%) for a period of three years.
A master degree in mathematics with outstanding grades is expected. There is
the possibility for a doctorate or postdoc lecture qualification
respectively.
The position is part of a joint project between the Chair of Applied
Analysis, University of Osnabrück (G. Kutyniok), the Institut für Geometrie
und Praktische Mathematik, RWTH Aachen (W. Dahmen), and the Seminar for
Applied Mathematics, ETH Zurich (C. Schwab). A central theme of the project
will be the mathematical analysis and the computer implementation of
directional representation systems in adaptive discretization methods for
partial differential equations.
Good programming skills as well as some background in function spaces and
(applied and computational) harmonic analysis are a must.
The University of Osnabrück aims for the increase of the proportion of women
