Post Doctor Cancer Stem Cells
A postdoctoral research position is available in Mesenchymal Cancer Biology at Cancer Stem Cell Innovation Center, Institute for
Cancer Research, Norwegian Radium Hospital, Oslo, Norway.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in molecular and cell biology, signalling, stem cells, cancer, or genomics. Personal
characteristics, such as communication and collaboration skills, will be given careful consideration.
We are currently investigating the involvement of stem-like cells in mesenchymal tumours (sarcomas). This involves the isolation of sub-, or “side”, populations with stem-like phenotypes, investigation of their colony-forming ability and tumour-initiating potential, and molecular profiling (nuclear programs: epigenomics, mRNA and miRNA expression). Relevant pathways will be investigated further to identify candidate diagnostic markers and/or therapeutic targets.
The postdoc will work in Cancer Stem Cell Core lab, together with researchers from several groups, as well as one postdoc and one technician already on the project. In addition there is core personnel assisting with cell preparation and culture, flow cytometry, and microarray analysis.
The position is available for 3 years, with the possibility for extension. Application deadline April 15th 2008.
